The New Balance trademark dispute has recently reached a final outcome. The Guangdong Provincial People's Court (hereinafter referred to as "Guangdong High Court") publicly pronounced the judgment on the New Balance trademark dispute. Although the final judgment still finds New Balance Trading (China) Co., Ltd. liable for trademark infringement, the 98 million yuan compensation awarded in the first instance is amended to 5 million yuan. This means that the "新百伦" brand is no longer regarded as a counterfeit brand of New Balance (hereinafter referred to as "NB"), but a Chinese national brand protected by law; meanwhile, NB has lost its Chinese name in the Chinese mainland for the second time.
